In the last several months I have bought several dolls to work on for my own collection. Mostly Barbies, Monster Highs and the like. Some will only get repaints while others will get the full treatment of rerooting, repainting and costumes. So here are a few of them I am currently working on.
This is a hybrid doll of the Mattel Monster High Headless Head Mistress on a Made to Move Purple Shirt body. The skin color is a perfect match between the two. I got MHHHM second hand and her original hair came with the bun and spit curl style. But it was all fuzzy due to shipping. Plus, that glue/wax gunk Mattel is so desperately fond of putting in the heads these days was seeping out making the hair feel greasy, sticky, and matted all at the same time. Not a pleasant combination by itself.
Here is a simple warning to all those who buy Monster High dolls, the glue/wax stuff they use will stain your doll and permanently turn the skin a yellowish color. I found that out while making my Fawn about this particular problem with it.

That is a Draculara head and although it isn't the nicest quality photo it does show the staining on the scalp area. Notice how it looks more pale flesh tone than say the more pinky area around the neck hole area? That isn't paint or pastel work. That is caused by the wax seeping out and leeching the red tones from the vinyl of the head. I also have a Catrine Demew doll it stained the white of the skin a pale yellow. So far I have yet to find away to fix the issue with Catrine other than to paint over it. So if you have Monster Highs and you want to keep that pretty skin color... Well the glue/wax isn't your friend.
But back to MHHHM, I put her on the Made to Move body because I plan to turn her into a character doll from one of my favorite TV shows Penny Dreadful. I'll let you guess which one. Next on her to do list is a face up and hair styling since I rerooted her getting rid of that glue/wax as fast as possible.

This is the Monster High Mouscedes King and isn't she just adorable? Well she always was one of my favorites when she came out but I never had the money for her at the time. I managed at last to snag her. So far all that has been done to her is hair removal. Tonight I plan on getting the glue/wax out and getting the face prepared for a repaint. Don't know yet what color of hair she will end up with in the end. I might just get the same pink to root her with.
Okay confession time, I hadn't heard of Batsy Claro until about a month ago when I saw a repaint video of her on Youtube. She never came out in my stores and I don't honestly keep up with the line of dolls beyond that and the random check online every now and again. Once I had though I could not resist getting this girl for two reasons; her wings and her ears. I'll have plans of turning her into a fairy of some sort in the near future. Right now she's only seen the hair removal. Next is the glue/wax removal.
This lovely lady is Isi Dawndancer and like Batsy I hadn't heard of her until I went looking for Batsy. But once I had I couldn't resist her. Those ears and the tiny dear hoof feet were just too much to resist. What she will become is anyone's guess at this point. Right now she's just in the same boat as Batsy in the remake process.
So that's my newest doll projects in the works. Let's see who gets finished first.
